TOMATO BATH / UPMA
INGREDIENTS:
Oil - 2 tbsp
Ghee / butter - 1 tbsp
Cardamom - 3
Cloves - 3
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Bengal gram - 1 tsp
Black gram [urad dal] - 1 tsp
Cashew nuts - few
Green chilies [chopped] - 3
Ginger [chopped] - 2 tsp
Onion [chopped] - 1 cup
Curry leaves - few
Salt - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Tomato [chopped] - 1/2 cup
Water - 3 cups
Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
Semolina - 1 cup
Coriander leaves - few
METHOD:
1. Heat 2 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp ghee/butter in a saucepan. Add 3 cardamom, 3 cloves, 1 inch cinnamon and saute for a while.
2. Add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp bengal gram dal, 1 tsp black gram dal [urad dal] and saute for a while.
3. Add few cashew nuts. Add 3 green chilies chopped, 2 tsp ginger chopped and saute for a while.
4. Add 1 cup onions chopped, few curry leaves, 1 tsp salt and cook it until 2 minutes.
5. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes and cook it until 2 minutes.
6. Add 2 cups water and boil it for 5 minutes. Add 1/2 tsp lemon juice and add 1 cup semolina. Add few coriander leaves and cook it for 2 minutes. Your delicious breakfast recipe is ready. Let it cool and eat.
NOTE: Cardamom, cinnamon and cloves are optional. Adjust salt according to your taste.
